What's Behind Artistic Genius

What is it that empowers an artist to create a masterpiece?

Unquestionably, it is disorder and poverty. 🤣

I mean, really......name one truly great creative artist that does not have a neurological, psychological or emotional disorder.

Honestly, it lends credibility to their creative work! Take this from an epileptic who has been treated for depression. I'm putting it on my resumé.

But I digress...

There is also something substantial to this "starving artist" business.

1) The artist creates for the pure joy of creating, and then consequently forgets to attend to ordinary life skills such as eating, sleeping and paying bills. Result: hunger and homelessness

2) The artist creates precisely because she lacks food, money or supplies and is forced to think outside the box. Result: innovation

Destitution is always to be avoided, but a poverty that is marked by joyful frugality and simplicity of life is one that breeds creativity.

These are chicken-and-egg scenarios, in my opinion:

Disorder-->Art-->Poverty-->Art-->
Poverty-->Disorder-->Art

Today, I really wanted a bowl of cereal but my only two bowls were both dirty.

No problem!

Some may call this disorder. I call it creativity.

(It's probably a little of both)

I hope one day to be numbered among the greats. 😂
