Have you ever felt like your real life experience has all the makings of a stand-up comedy routine? Does the laughable absurdity of life sometimes make you want to forget your responsibility to uphold norms of professionalism and politeness? Or, do you take special delight in the awkward misadventures of others? Then, you're in the right place!
I started this page as a way of sharing the silly, strange and joyful moments of the everyday. You can laugh with me or at me, or both! But, along the way, I hope you are also inspired to think more adventurously and seek out humor and joy.
"The House of Christian Mirth" was the nickname given to the room of St. Philip Neri, who always received visitors at any hour, and always with joy and charity. He is known as the humorous saint, because he was always ready with a joke (he carried a joke book in his pocket!) and easily made others laugh. His desire was to bond with others and relate with them, and he did so through laughter and practical joking. He was even known to dress up like a beggar or go out with only half of his beard shaved, all in an effort to grow in humility and relationship with others.
What a curiously fantastic example of acceptance of the Will of God. Christ comes "at any hour", in many disguises and ways that I do not expect - in others and in the circumstance of my life. He always comes to bring joy and life to the full. Will I receive Him with a smile?
“A joyful heart is more easily made perfect than a downcast one.”
~ St. Philip Neri ~
"I am ready to accept whatever He gives and give whatever He takes,
with a big smile."
~ Mother Teresa ~
Lord, help me change my attitude,
So I can receive You with joy !
